                                     BEING A TEENAGER

I am walking up to the billboard and the only thing racing through my mind is wether my hard work has paid off. One whole year i had sacrificed everything just to do better than good in my tenth standard exams. These exams were the only things that kept me occuied for a year. No going out with friends, no watching movies. Just sitting in your room the whole day with your eyes buried in the books that are now gathering dust at the edge of my cupboard.

I am a girl born and brought up in a middle class Indian family and i have seen the struggle my parents have done to put me in this reputed institution. My mother had lost her sleep to stay by my side giving me enthusiasm and courage while i burned my nights away. My brothers have always pestered me to go and study. My father had given me all the courage he can while he was away on his trips meeting different people doing his work so now the only thing inside my head is wether i have lived up to their expectations. Dissapointing my family is one fear that i cannot face especially dissapointing my mother. I am a normal teenager dealing with the various situations in life. I get different mood swings like shouting at someone without eligible reasons or arguing with my mother that why does she hover so much. One day I am complaining to my friends about my life and the next day i am stating them reasons why i have a glorious life. Attraction to the opposite sex is also a major part of being a teenager. Breaking the rules, setting new limits are all being part of being a teenager.  We are impatient and the only thing that we want from our family is love. No scoldings, no correction. A boundless and a free sky is what we expect of our life. Taking the right or the wrong path is our decision influenced by our families.

As i stand here in front of the billboard praying to God i am sure of one thing. No matter whatever happens my family is going to be there for me. I might have made many mistake in my life but my family has stood by me making me understand my mistakes and making sure that i do not repeat them. If any of the parents out there are reading my article i just want to tell you one thing. we teenagers might be arrogant, selfish, a non listner and a non follower of rules but the only thing that we love most is our family. We might not live up to peoples expectations but as long as we know our family is standing by us and is proud of us we will have the strength to fight any situation that comes before us. Drinking, smoking, doing drugs has all become a way of life of some teenagers but no person goes on this path without any reason.

All we teenagers need is a lot of love, a little patience and a little tiny bit of discipline. still wondering what has happened to my results. Well they are coming out this week so wish me all the luck.
